Karin Thurnes combines profound work on consciousness with creative power in a unique way. As an experienced transformation mentor specialising in the precise reprogramming of the subconscious, she helps people not only to understand inner blockages intellectually, but to make them visible and ultimately dissolve them. In her studio, which she sees as a space of alchemy, she creates works that form new strength and radiant light out of fragility, self-doubt and pain. Karin understands her work as an invitation to radical self-knowledge and authenticity — she meets viewers exactly at the interface between the subconscious and reality.

The mirror is at the centre of her current project. It does not serve vanity, however, but revelation. Anyone who looks into it does not see a clear, pleasing image. Instead, the viewer is confronted with fragmentation, distortion, grids and sharp breaks. These visual disturbances symbolise the primal wounds we all carry within us.

Using mixed media on canvas, eggshells, plaster, wire, ropes and mirror fragments, Karin Thurnes creates multi-layered structures. The deliberate destruction and rearrangement of the materials makes inner barriers tangible and turns them into a form of beauty that only becomes possible through the courage to be fragile and open. Her works act as catalysts: they bring deeply hidden feelings to the surface and invite us to accept the supposedly broken reflection of our own soul.

Since around 95 percent of our daily thinking and acting happens subconsciously, her art aims to bypass the analytical mind and address the deeper layers of being. In her work with international clients, Karin Thurnes uses various mental and mediumistically sensitive methods and, on request, also artistic processes to release deep-seated fears and burdensome blockages where the mind does not reach. This is about far more than simply letting go — it is a remembering and a rediscovery of one's very own strength.

With her participation in SWISSARTEXPO 2026 at Zurich main station, Karin Thurnes sends a clear signal: the time has come to stop carrying inner blockages in silence and to bring them courageously into the light.
